When you send a (R)egistered e-Mail, you receive an e-mail delivery receipt that proves exactly when you sent your message and when it was delivered to the person you sent it to. The receipt also carries a "digital fingerprint" of your original message so that - if there is ever a dispute - you can use your receipt to prove that your message said exactly what you say it did.
